Member educational activities

Six member overseas team coordinated by NDA member and ex vice chairman Dr Anil Tuladhar, Consultant Paediatrician along with Dr Janakiraman, Consultant Neonatologist, Dr Subhan Christudas, Senior Paediatric Trainee, Ms Barbara Harrison, Retired Ward Matron Neonatal Unit from Northern Deanery joined by Dr Bernd Reichert, Assistant Professor In Neonatology and Ms Joanne Jenkinson, Senior Neonatal Nurse, Sidra Institute, Doha , Qatar conducted hands on two day NLS course in Dhulikhel.

The response was overwhelming and the course was oversubscribed, hence had to be restricted to 25 candidates each day to provide maximum out of the course. Feedback was excellent for the format and conduct of the course. Most of the participants stated that they had never had such a hands on simulation based neonatal life support course.

The course was sponsored by Health Exchange Nepal (UK) and provided necessary equipments including manikins. The course was run in collaboration with North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust (UK) and ably supported by Dhulikhel Hospital team. Our aim is to run this annually and and slowly reach out to other areas in Nepal.

Ms Harrison also conducted three days hands on training to the nurses with regards to neonatal advanced care prior to the NLS course.

Dear Member,
NDA (UK) Journal is published annually from the material provided by doctors, their family members and friends in the UK and abroad. Both medical and non medical articles are welcome. Medical articles could be review, original on research/audit or an interesting case. They should be referenced in Vancouver style. Abstracts of presentation at the annual scientific meeting will also be published. Non-medical articles should be interesting, informative, impartial, non-political and if possible linked to Nepal and Nepalese cultural heritage.

Short stories, poems, travel experiences, recipes, anecdotes, etc are considered for inclusion in the journal. Relevant news and achievements in academic and social life of NDA UK members and their families are given ample space. There is also space for readers’ feedback in the form of letters to the editor.

This year there will be an art work competition for the journal. Any age group please  send in artwork (drawing or photo) depicting some aspect of Nepal. The winning entry will be published on the back page.

Notice to the contributors:
