MESSAGE
FROM OUTGOING WEB EDITOR ANIL TULADHAR
Dear NDA Members,
Thank
you so much for giving me an opportunity to serve as a Vice-Chairman and website
editor. I really enjoyed last two years as the editor working with a fantastic
bunch of executive committee members. They have been tremendously helpful and
always been supportive, giving me constructive ideas to take this website to its
recently achieved positive appraisal.
I
would be doing injustice if I don't mention few names here. It had been very
enjoyable to work together with my friend, for the last 20 years, Dr Rajendra
Pandey, who had always been there to support me with creative ideas and is one
of the reasons behind the present format of this website; Dr Ramesh Khoju, the
best treasurer the NDA has ever had, who worked tirelessly to untie the NDA
Treasury knot successfully after months of running around and has supported me
all the way through with his constructive ideas. Dr Shabin Joshi was tremendous
in taking charity work forward. This is reflected on the number of charity works
the NDA supported during his tenure. Dr Milan Piya must also be congratulated
for excellent work in producing quality journals for last two years. Dr Siri
Gautam has been instrumental in setting up the Paediatric chapter and has been
active in setting up mutual projects with Nepali counterparts. It was nice to
see Dr Prem Rai's regular emails of support with ideas all the way. Also our
ever pleasant Chairman, Dr Madan Sharma, must be thanked for his wholehearted
support in our effort to take the NDA forward.
Last
17 months have been difficult for new NDA members - firstly because of the Home
Office Immigration Ruling on 6th March 2006 and recently, due to unilateral
ruling of UK National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) in downgrading MBBS
degrees from Nepalese Universities giving unacceptable excuse of substandard
preuniversity requirements of these universities, thereby denying them the all
important valuable points in obtaining HSMP Visa. We vociferously contested it
with no avail. The BMA International Doctors Action Group (IDAG) is taking this
up with NARIC and I have just received a message from BAPIO (British Association
of Physicians of Indian Origin) that they are investigating how they could
approach this to support Nepali graduates.
I
would like to thank Mr Nikhil Bhandari, son of Dr Vidya Parajulie, from bottom
of my heart who originally designed our present website and has been my main
advisor throughout this period. He was always prepared to help me with his
creative suggestions irrespective of the time of day. I would also like to
unreservedly thank all the members for their support with constructive ideas and
feedbacks.
Lastly,
I would like to congratulate new NDA(UK) Team on their appointment. In the mean
time, Dr Ramesh Khoju has taken a role of acting editor till something concrete
is put into the place.
Best
wishes,
Anil
