Successful completion of Second laparoscopic surgery course at Dhulikhel Hospital, NEPAL

2014-11-07 11.27.29NDA executive member Dr Kamal Aryal- consultant Colorectal Surgeon along with Mr Mike Lavelle-Jones-Vice president of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Mr Jeremy Ward- consultant upper GI surgeon, Mr Shyam Matenhelia- consultant urologist successfully conducted second Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh endorsed laparoscopic surgery course organised by Dhulikhel Hospital and Health Exchange Nepal (HeXN) UK from 7 to 9 November 2014.

 There were 18 participants from all over the country including Chitwan and Birgunj. The participants rated the course very highly. All learning objectives were met.

 The course included first day of interactive lectures and introduction to simulator. On the second and third day the delegates practised in the simulators donated by HeXN and iSurgicals, participated in live operating in the theatres and took up the MCQs. The programme was completed with closing ceremony with musical band and distribution of the certificates byVice Chancellor of Kathmandu University Prof Ram Kantha Makaju.

Charity Dinner 2014

imageOn behalf of NDA(UK) Dr Vandana Karn and Dr Sanjeeb Nepali and entire North East team have successfully hosted a Charity Dinner at the Park Hotel in Tynemouth on 27th September 2014.

A personal insight was provided by Mrs Julie Campy and how her parents lives were transformed by dementia care.

The evening was filled with entertainment from live Bollywood dancing performed by Ankita and Anupama Karn and Nepalese folk dancing by Simran and teaOnm followed by raffles, auctions and disco.

Thank you to everyone who attended and have made generous donations. So far we have raised £2,160 in aid of Dementia Care in Nepal.

 

 

RAMJI GAUTAM MEMORIAL AWARD

RAMJI GAUTAM MEMORIAL AWARD for MD in Anaesthesiology

Under the active leadership of Dr Achyut Dhital ( NDA (UK) Chairman: Year 2000-2001), NDA members contributed a sum of £4009.00 towards establishment of a fund for “Ramji Gautam Memorial Award”. This Fund was, then handed over to Institute of Medicine(IOM), Maharajgung, Kathmandu in 2002 and deposited in a fixed account. An interest from this fixed deposit has been set up for an award for the top most post graduate resident in MD in Anaesthesiology.

For last 5 years the award has been presented to following young doctors who secured top most position in MD in Anaesthesiology in IOM.

Charity Lunch to help flood victims of Nepal

We appreciate it is very short notice but with the desperate situation unfolding in Nepal we feel the need to act immediately to ensure that those affected recover and re-establish their lives.

Wales Health Awareness Day 2014

23th August 2014, Cwmbran

NDA(UK) in association with Welsh Nepalese Community successfully organised one day programme on ” Health Awareness  and Education”. Dr Beena Subba coordinated the programme. Drs Chuda Karki, Raghav Dhital, Beena Subba, Kamal Aryal, Sumindra Pun and Angel Magar delivered  talks on general health. Dr Sumindra Pun along with colleagues conducted health check and counselling . There were around 76 People benefited from the  programme.
